I like them both. 80's had better originality song-wise and 90's had better originality music-wise, less samples due to the sample ruling.

save for afew acts, i'm not an 80s stan at all. :mjlol: my coworker at my old bar/restaurant job would play 80s shyt all night on tuesdays, and the shyt was beyond wack. i'd put 2000s and 10s over the 80s imho

you dont want to go there. Kool Moe dee, Rakim, Big daddy kane. and thats just 3. Like i said 80s better lyrically.
I see where you're coming from, I haven't thought about which is better but the 80's had some phenomenonal lyrcists, add Melle Mel on to this too.

Lets be honest though, 80s was still development mode for the most part. Just hyper voices over drums and ABC rhymes. Things didn't get really good until 86 or 87. And I say that with wll respect towards the legends because they laid the blueprint for the 90s of course but 90s rappers took the torch and set everything on fire.

In the 80s, the only MCs rhyming with complex rhyme schemes were Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, and Guru. In the 90s that was the bar by 95. Not too mention we saw the rise of West Coast acts and Southern acts which made the prominent scene even more diverse in styles.
