I can only assume the 90s baby generation of kids want to invest and discover what physical music feels like again...

Makes me wish I didn't sell the majority of my record collection...I love it, but it's a inconvienient medium.

yeah, maybe. hell, i still buy cds from time to time, who am i to judge :yeshrug:

it's time i convert over to the itunes world though because replacin' cds and tryin' to keep them clean from scratches is a very 90's thing :old:

Vinyl definitely can be very expensive

I knew someone who paid like 300 for a Judge - Chung King record..a pretty rare hardcore/punk lp

A lot of people I knew/know into hardcore/punk and Jazz collect vinyl

But like @*L*E*G*A*C*Y* said, it's an inconvenient medium, especially if something you're serious about. Collecting vinyl takes up A LOT space and vinyl is more expensive.

I know a distributor who sells & collects and when he bought his house he had to make sure he had a big enough basement or extra room to store all his records and I know someone else who doesn't have enough space in his apt and stores a lot of his collection in at his parents house lol

shyt can also turn you into an eBay addict. I knew a lot of people who collected who developed an addiction to eBay :mjlol:

Also, since I noticed a lot "trends" are being taken from the hardcore/punk/skate community by hipsters.. there's been an emergence of "tape collecting" in hardcore/punk culture due to labels like Youth Attack records.. So I predict tapes are gonna make a come back next.

I was big into this shyt a couple years ago, til I got over feeling guilty about not physically owning music. I love the physical act of crate-digging and certainly enjoy listening to records, but any sort of large collection is a sizable investment, and not just in money.

I will say, tho, that used record bins have been loaded with piff ever since it became a trend. Apparently Urban Outfitters at least has decent taste in the vinyl they offer as lifestyle decorations. :yeshrug:

They already have...it's been going on since around 2012...

There are already labels dedicated to them like Opal Tapes which puts out high quality techno and experimental electronica...(COIN and HOLOVR are my favorite artists/producers on that label) and Not Not Fun

I can check out nodata and there are tons of releases being put out on tape...

Yeah, urban outfiitters has vinyl...but they usually have crappy indie rock bands I don't listen to and have no interest in..

I was all about it for house, techno, dnb, jungle, progressive house tribal house, hip-hop, etc...took up way too much space in my old studio.

I was DJing for like 10-11 years at that point though...

Oh it's definitely already been slowly making a come back that past few years but not really for hip hop yet like it has for other genres cultures..

Actually the other day, idk if you know who Team Sesh is or Bone$ but I saw one of his graphic designers post design covers for tapes on Twitter.. I'm sure a bunch of hipsters & hype beasts without tape decks will be buying them

Don't get me wrong, I like the look of tapes ..the covers look aesthetically pleasing and since I enjoy a lot of older punk that is low fi, I can really appreciate low fi but I just see no use in buying tapes.. They just aren't convienant.
