Look Kendrick deserved each and every award but let's talk about Macklemore here. He didn't decide to get the award and he can't help that his skin tone gives him an advantage. It's not like he's gonna be like 'oh I have an unfair advantage, guess I shouldn't try this out.'
I'm black but I like his music. The Heist was a really solid album, nothing close to GKMC, not even touching it but it's a pretty good album nonetheless.
I mean if a white rapper is gonna blow up and sweep the awards, I'm happy it's Macklemore. He seems like a genuinely good dude (the text to Kendrick was all cringe tho), he makes socially conscious music, acknowledges and has repeated that he knows his skin color gives him that advantage.
My question is do you resent Macklemore for basically epitomizing white privilege right before your eyes or do you just not like anything about him musically related? Good production, good raps, can get corny at times but he's definitely not bad.
