What’s the backstory on Angela Davis supposedly being an agent?

That sentiment is meant to appeal to people who had previously never read about Angela Davis, the BPP, The Black Radical Movements, or the FBI's efforts to neutralize them.

Many of the figures from that era were accused at one time or another of being agents. Often accused by people who are afraid of their own shadows and who wouldn't ride when it was go-time.

The accusations are an extension of the efforts to neutralize them, because decades later the same forces want to discredit them and what they accomplished.

Freedom of Information Act would turn up any documented snitching or cooperation by any of those figures.
But random person speculating on Twitter knows who their audience is, and what they will believe.

Look, I was raised to revere the woman.

Not gonna lie, but some of the shyt she says about Black men & all the LGBT shyt with the white feminists has me looking at her funny recently.

One of the most important people I've met. She was a customer at the store I worked at when I was 16, told me to read Malcolm's book, talked with me about it after....

She had been out of the public eye for some time by then..

Many of the other important revolutionary/civil rights leaders of the day were either imprisoned, killed, or ostracized from society.

She was given a teaching position at a top university and allowed to thrive and live her life.
