What’s the essence of the new Black Panther movie?

I just finished watching it & I still don’t get the plot.

After watching the first one - I thought the sequel would be about Wakanda going to war with the colonisers. However, this never happened & the only war they fought was against another oppressed underwater Indian/Chinese colony that had aspirations of going to war against colonisers.

The only thing the movie showed was to celebrate black women in power & with good martial arts skills - just like the woman king.

Posted this in the other thread but this was my take from it.

what this movie does is remind viewers that the loss of a Black King and Superhero does indeed change things and leave a hole that most feel cannot be filled (the audience and Zhuri) but life must go on and new traditions must take place of the old which is actually great writing for the times we’re in.

True. That’s the only tangible lesson from the movie in context of the cultural importance it’s portrayed as.

I still don’t understand why the plot isn’t about going to war with colonisers. Or are they scared white folks won’t like the idea of a powerful black country defeating Europeans?

All the theatrics of female warriors & their martial arts skills is stale. We just finished watching one - they need to rest.

Yall some dumbass niccas wanting to live your dreams through a frickin movie that was literally made by Disney.

"Why aren't they fighting white ppl?? :damn:"

"This movie has too many black women!!!:damn:"

Yall niccas better be happy that they didn't put a brotha in a dress and move it right along :mjpls:

The only thing I would have been mad about is if they had terrible portrayals of black people, which it didn't. Considering it's common to see nuccas kissing in the mouth on TV nowadays, I'm just glad that Disney didn't have Mbaku kissing another man.

If you want more in your comic book movies, then yall need to support @Neuromancer books (by black folks for black folks) and Black Sands (also by black folks for black folks) regardless of his strange appreciation of Mel Gibson. I would still trust him over Disney cause I know he gon have great portrayals of black people, much better than anything Disney would ever do.

It’s an American made PG-13 Disney movie. Why did you think this?

Also, what colonizers are you referring to here? Are you talking about white people in the MCU?

You’re a clown. You basically just created this is in your head & passed it off as my thoughts. The joke is on you.

The real beef is people who’re trying to hustle them for vibranium & that keeps sending special forces to go raid their outposts.

However, somehow the script created a fake beef with an underwater colony that’s also oppressed & both groups decided to go to war.

Evidently, in terms of cultural perspective that the movie was marketed on - it makes no sense. And that’s my gripe.

It’s an underwhelming movie & plot.

I mean they shouldve kept Namor white or asian or whatever he is or make him Hispanoc and Make him just how he is in the comics. Make the beef workout on him hating Wakanda and keep it just that. No social issues just make a superhero war film...but when you hire Ryan Coogler who is a normal ass muthafukka to write comic book films this is what you get. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Yes.

Even the movie started with French special forces raiding their outpost for vibranium & subsequently something that looks like the UN.

And I just told you 2 black properties that are genuinely created by black people. Why aren't you supporting one or both of them? Maybe if your dumb ass can stop crying over a Disney movie, we can help build up 2 coli brehs companies by supporting them and then they can put out the type of movie with the type of representation that you (claim to) want.

You’re a funny guy.

Aren’t you the breh that was in the US Marines? And have they stopped teaching discipline in USMC?

You don’t come out insulting people then turn around & tell them to support what you’re selling. It doesn’t work that way. No disrespect to the brehs building companies (I don’t even know about it) but you’re a terrible ambassador for what they’re trying to build.

Julia Louis Dreyfus in the film plays an American villain plotting on getting Wakandan resources which sets up a US vs Wakanda conflict that Marvel indicated they want to do.
