Been thinking about jumping on one of these lately. I've been a MacBook Pro user for years going back to when I was in college. I tried the first Surface Pro when it came out, but it was pretty clunky and not much of a smooth user experience. Plus, I was a DJ at the time so the MacBook Pro worked better for my needs. Seems like they were hyping the whole "tablet that replaces your laptop" thing hard back then, but it failed to deliver the first time around.

But lately, I've been seeing them make some strides in their design and Windows 10 doesn't look all that bad. I might make the jump off the Apple bandwagon if this is any good. Has the Surface gotten to the point where it can legit replace a laptop or is that just marketing hype still? My computer needs are basically email, web browsing, some designing via Wordpress and some light photoshop/illustrator work nowadays.
and of course the occasional trip to JBO :shaq:

The Surface Pro has been on the up since the 2nd version, with each on being legit better than the predecessor. Had Apple making the iPad Pro... :hhh:.

Now, you gotta realize that the Surface Pro and MacBook Pro are still set for 2 types of consumer, as the Surface Pro is looked at as more of an "ultrabook," since it uses a Core M3 and ULV Core CPUs but outside of that, from what you said your uses are, it would work perfectly. I have 3 computers in my house that I use for specific purposes; my customer built PC, my workhorse laptop (Lenovo P50), and Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet with the Core M CPU. For quick things such as browsing, checking email, checking out my home network, etc, I used my Venue 11.

Appreciate it. I'm actually gonna pick up a Surface Pro 3 someone offered me tomorrow. it has an i5 with 4gb ram and 128gb SSD which seems like enough for what I might use it for. I got a 1TB external drive where most of my stuff stays anyway so i'm good on that. I probably used 50GB of actually files on the 512GB SSD in my Macbook Pro at most :snoop:

I'm gonna look to build a PC later in the year to handle the more intense media work.
