The word is supposedly an acronym for 'that ho over there', which would indicate that whomever it is applied to, is a ho, slut, whore, sleeps around, whatever.
However, these days the word is thrown around extremely generously..so generously, in fact, that it's become hard to distinguish if the female that is being referred to as a thot is being called that simply for being a female, or if it is indeed because of her loose behavior.
Any female who becomes the subject of conversation via social media is automatically labeled an "IG thot" or "FB thot".
Do not confuse this, though, with the actual IG and FB thots that are out there...because they are out there.
But the way the word thot gets thrown around these days it's hard to tell what exactly constitutes 'thottery' or not.
If she's ratchet, but doesn't sleep around a lot, is she a thot?
If she's a professional corporate woman who does sleep around a lot, is she a thot?
If she's married, but had a lot of sex partners in her long distant past, is she a thot?
