Not sure if this is the right section, but I’m looking to change my internet provider. Before I had AT&T and was paying $60 a month. They made you rent the router/modem combo from them.

Does anyone have a different setup in their part of the country? I know you can buy your own equipment to save money but was curious

I have Google Fiber. Dont even need a router. You can just plug it directly into the wall. I use my gaming router for the wifi though. Its 1Gig speeds and more than enough. Was supposed to be $60 but when i moved in I noticed that the internet was still on so I cancelled my installation appointment. That was a few months ago and its still on. I know now that my building is hard wired for it and they only charge you for the fiber if you are stupid enough to set it up in your name. :skip:

I have Xfinity gigabit and before I moved I had cox.

definitely buy your own router and modem. Best time to do that is around the holidays.
If you spend the money up front, they can both last you for a while.

Fiber. 300 Mb

Will likely move up to 1Gb by end of year. Gotta upgrade other equipment up to ensure I get the best of it.

1Gb is $80/month here. Not bad.

Sonic gigabit. I pull down about 800mb on average. Use a google mesh router to get better coverage throughout my house
