When a Family Member Gets Hemmed Up by Ice

They got my cousin who is a lawful naturlized citizen, graduated high school and college in the states.
His wife(fba for sake of topic) had to come there where they had him and bring his "proof" of citizenship.

From what his mother told us, they just grabbed him off the street in the middle of the day. I dont know all the details, I think he was running some errands or on break from work or something. He was talking to some other guys(mostly black and latino) and ICE was asking them for ID. They gave him a hard time because of his last name. It's all racial/ethnic profiling basically. I dont know the rules there when dealing with ice, but do you have to show ID or something? I would not have, I think that's what gave them the itch. Then again it's a rock and hard place.

I don't think you're required by law to produce your ID, but it does make life easier. I get not wanting to cooperate, though.

yeah he produced ID, they looked at his last name and saw it looked "foreign" and asked for proof of citizenship

He's back to hls life now but it did shake him up a little bit, and alot of the family also. Everybody now travels with their passports just in case.

They’re just running up on cars and snatching people out. They busted a dudes car window out and took him across town and left him here in Charlotte. These people don’t care man. Sorry this happened to your family op.
