When a job you're interviewing for asks you if you're interviewing any where else?

Why is that their business?

Is this like asking so...do you currently have hoes?

Is it a set up question?

As many interviews as i've been in my life (probably 100) I dont recall ever being asked that question by the company interviewing me.

Now, the recruiters have asked me if i "have other offers pending" and that's usually so they can know to hurry up and make you an offer before you're off the market. Especially if they know the hiring manager/team likes you. But the actual hiring managers...NOPE.

And to be honest they only ask you that question if they have other candidates they have to interview and they wanna know how much time they have to make a decision before you take another offer elsewhere.

I’ve asked this question in interviews (it’s mandator and was part of the interview script :snoop:) and it’s moreso to trip up the person :manny: and see how they can respond under some type of pressure that’s unrelated to an immediate task.

Best answer I’ve gotten is something along the lines of “I don’t interview for fun, when someone hires me for a job I like, I’ll stop” and I was like :ohhh::dwillhuh::mjtf::ooh::myman:

Just say you 'have some feelers out there but haven't made a decision at this point' and keep it pushing. Just casual enough to make it not too serious but not so casual that they can ignore it.

Be careful of name dropping if the other companies haven;t made offers, companies in the same industry tend to communicate with the one another at middle/upper management.
