North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Mind you, NWA was well known and their music got much play in VA (where I lived at the time) but there were no videos and no real mainstream push. That New York vibe still ruled. When this song dropped in 92 it was like :wow: And the video was bananas when you saw it for the first time. Hip Hop was never the same after this song breh's. You couldn't help but feel this. Die Hard new york yankee hat wearing nikkas was like :dwillhuh:

Back then anything other than that east coast sound just wasn't poppin. This song changed all that (I mean Cube still had a lot of love but something about this record and when it dropped was just different).

Cube was numero uno....He had The Preditor album out and "Wicked" as a single. Eazy had "Only If You Want It." Unlike Ren , Cube and Eazy..The Chronic had no promo. I'm not gonna even lie.....I remember shopping for music during X Mas, saw the Chronic album on vinyl and thought to myself "That sh*t is probably weak." LOL. Mind you Dre was still looked at as a bad guy type with the Cube beef with NWA and The Dee Barns situation so it was one of those "Fuk him" moments.
