When DBZ went to Toonami appreciation thread

I remember back in middle school/high school when I first got put onto DBZ. Back then, DBZ came on UPN on Sundays. They only showed through to the middle of the freiza saga when Goku first arrived on Planet Namek. nikkas left me hanging something crazy, too, because that's when they alluded to Goku being a super saiyan. It was that episode where Recoome had just beat the fukk outta Vegeta

On UPN the DBZ programming was mad inconsistent, too. I'd get home from Catholic Church and run into my room just in time to catch the 12:30 showing, only to see that they've canceled that weeks episode of DBZ for a fukking episode of Hercules

I had stopped even watching it because of UPN's bullshyt, when one day while watching Toonami this glorious promo came on

From then on out, Toonami became my go-to afterschool TV segment. I was already watching Tenchi Muyo and Sailor Moon () and whatever else they were showing way back then, but finally I I had a real show I could watch.

Only gripe I had was when they changed voice actors. Vegeta went from a high pitched voice to a deep picollo like voice

I''ve never anticipated the beginning of a season as much as that summer. Frieza alive and on a war path, a new saiyan, SSJ Vegeta, Goku still alive, Androids... what a time

I got two memories:

i remember when was a kid i told my gay cousin (who was a fan of tenchi) that i hated that show and he threw a bytch fit and told me "if you hate that show then why don't you just stop watching anime period!" and didn't talk to me for a whole day

I remember those days UPN would stop it right when Goku gets to Namek. Then they would start it back over from the Sayian conflict. Telemundo on the other hand would stop,around when Trunks makes is appearance

Yo, this shyt used to come on fox on saturdays at 6 am. I would be so pissed when I would miss that shyt. When CN got a hold of it I was so hyped and then they got the rest of the episodes.. just

Toonami was that shyt and no ther cartoon was seeing DBZ back then.
