But realistically they spent too much time off the air. Although Vice was fukking them over they actually earned their stripes for being consistent on a daily basis.

The Tariq shyt was the clear defining instance but by then they we already done with the Vice show and just mailing it in. obviously if you’re from NY you get a lot of the references they make but I would imagined it’s 100x harder for other people to “get it”

But I guess like anything, shyt just gets stale. The podcast was cool for a while but that has fallen off big time.

I fukked with their show but after it got cancelled I tried listening to their podcast a couple times and just wasn’t feeling. Last time I tried listening to it, I had my wife with me in the car and Desus was running off his aliases. The shyt went on for embarrassingly long time and we just turned it off and put on the 85 South show. That was like 8 months ago and I haven’t really checked for them since.

Personally i felt they had a good nitch/situation at vice. It was a station that catered to stoners and hip hop. That’s their demo and it’s regular cable plus the show mimicked podcasts in that they posted shows immediately to YouTube that Same night /next day.

98% of the times I’ve watched them was on YouTube on my own time

Them going to prime time was a bad move. I get the checks were good but we’re talking a time where more and more people are cutting the cord ..is their show on showtime on demand ?

I liked that they were organic and didn’t come off as industry plants like they were being themselves true to 90s hip hop and up on current culture every hood has a desus and mero type person cracking jokes and shyt
