I know in the 80's and early 90's a "My T Sharp" hairline wasn't all that important it seems from looking at movies and old videos. Even though that line was used by the shop in Coming to America the Prince didn't leave with a crispy shape. Did shapes start with Kid and Play. Hell them full force dudes wasn't rocking them either.

What year?

All I know is that my barber is closed until April 8th and probably longer :mjcry:

Imma either have to go bald or learn to cut my own hair for now. Not trying to fukk up my line though as it’s already starting to push back :mjcry:

That's what made me think of this question. My hairline looking like Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop Pt 1

I got hightop dreads and I know my sides are gonna look crazy in 3 weeks.

Took my fade for granted :wow:

How long did it take you to learn to cut your own hair?

It probably took me a year to consistently get my line up looking nice. When I first started, my line was janky af.

The actually cut is easy. When I had waves, I just cut it with the grain. Now I just cut it really low, against the grain. That won’t take you long at all to learn. Just use a couple of mirrors

I bought a Bevel trimmer from Target that was on sale for $70 a few months back. Didn’t realize I would have no other choice but to learn and use it now lol.

I’ve never liked a whole bunch of hair on my head and face. I’m going to be miserable for the foreseeable future. I’m going to look like a damn black cave man after all this is done. Well, I guess I could still shave my face.

It started in Brooklyn in the 80's. At least imo. A lot of dudes out there were doing the high fade with big rings. Plus they were giving all the early crazy hip hop cuts you'd think of.

This is funny because this was brought up in my Groupchat yesterday.

We argued the quality of music decreased as soon as lineups started, because groups like Earth Wind and Fire were letting their shyt wild out :russ:

But Big Daddy Kane was one of the first people in the mainstream with a shape up. So think the 80s
