weed has always been a mainstay in hip hop, but when did it become mainstream to rap about doing lines of coke, oxycontin, and poppin e? seems like 20 years ago, as a reaction to the devastation crack caused in the community, you would've gotten the :rudy: for messin with hard drugs..but now dudes are going hard and are open about it. not that i'm averse to it being a druggie myself, i'm just curious when it became socially acceptable to be drugged the fukk out in hip hop? :wtf:

ASAP Mob - Bath Salt ft. Flatbush ZOMBiES (Official Video) - YouTube

^this vid is a good example of this new age druggie hip hop scene

If these new rappers finally discovered popping E, who am I to say that's the wrong thing to do. I get your point, but I'd look like a fool saying it's wrong.

I thing hard drug use was always around in hiphop, but with the new generation being into the whole hipster scene its a little more socially acceptable

A very good point. Hard drugs became prominent in Hip Hop when Hollywood took a liking to it, spreading that demonic message out to the public.

Hip Hop has always been about hustlin' and selling drugs. Never taking them.

:troll: except weed of course.

:manny: I mean.... You gotta think that nikkas was snorting coke while they were poplocking to electro dance music in the 80's, but I kind of see what you're saying...

I honestly just think the Texas Syrup shyt kind of started it, and then Lil Wayne and the "rock star" phase...

Because ODB was a coke and crackhead and folks didn't really see that as a good thing..

Also the hipster rap/hypebeast era where most of these newer artist come from mixed party crowds that were okay with doing drugs... Similar to how Skateboarding is so visible in hip hop... Also, My generation 26 and younger, don't really see drugs as a big deal anymore so you're just seeing the artist of that generation mirroring these beliefs..

growing up I always looked at hard drugs as white people shyt and crackheads activities, and that always stuck with me. Late 80's early 90's NYC made an impression on me, I never had an interest in hard drugs seeing crack heads and heroin addicts looking like aliens, acting like developmentally disableds in these streets.

Pimp C had sleep apnea. I feel like that had more to do with his death than Lean.

He had the deadly 3.... Sleep Apnea, High Blood pressure, and Diabetes... Those 3 health complications usually go hand in hand and they kill a lot of people when put together, especially black males...

The Syrup probably amplified that shyt and lead to his death.... But we can't act like if he was sober, he wouldn't have died...
