Hip hop is too big. It's what rock in the 80s was. now the labels and the dominant internet trade makers got their tentacles even deeer in now in terms of controlling what rises. There's dudes with barsstill all there all over the internet, they're just not gonna get the love these other cats get.

Eh lyricism isn't popular anymore but I don't see people hating on it. I'm one of the ones in the younger gen (22 years old here) who still values bars. Most people my age however mostly care if the music itself sounds good.

The biggest sellers of this generation are psuedo 'lyrical' rappers, Drake, Kendrick, J Cole. Future is the only really successful non rapping ass rapper and a large part of that is due to riding Drake's coat tails.
