I was a comic book nerd when I was a kid back in the 90's. I have hundreds of comic books still. i kept them all in protective plastic.

Its been there. Its just other elements of black culture overshadowed it. My dad told me growing up his generation in the family were all comic book fans and had mad DC and Marvel comics. Because they said when they weren't playing sports, they needed something to do inside the house. There was no video games, no cable. So that's what they had.
