Whats crazy to me is i look at alot of the hip hop today and i see some of the guys the users and others within the genre pop up, and i hear so much about pills, coke etc that unlike in the last generation there is less about attaining power and more about popping mollies, painkillers etc. These off brand (in other words not just weed) seems to be having an effect on the kids because i work in a group home, alot of the kids i work with cite rappers and their songs as inspirations to engage in that kind of shyt. I dont blame rappers for the activities of others, but in the instance of the kids i work with, where most of them are fatherless b*stards i am seeing the effect of lyrics first hand.

Regardless, i find it interesting that doing shyt like oxy, percs, vicodin, xanax, molly/ex has become mainstream among hip hop, syrup especially. While these might be low level painkillers compared to black tar/china white it caught me off gaurd, when did rappers become users as opposed to dealers? I personally think its lame, alot of these rappers are addicts, the seizure shyt is obvious, you dont just discover you are an epilectic overnight, two major rappers suffering the same issues after rapping extensivey about opiate use and drinking isnt some coencidence, some of these guys are literally addicts, the difference is, its not sometwe view in a real negative light, like crack.

Would we feel the same way if nikkas were making song after song about crack and how good it feels? i am generalizing, but what about meth?

I just think that hip hop as a whole has passed me by, i might be a small time producer, but i think in alot of ways i get disgusted hearing these rappers basically glorify being addicts because is the effects the lyrics have on impressionable youth, like i said, i dont blame rappers for the actions of others, but this drug addict/pills/painkiller raps are lame as fukk.

You cant be a boss and pop a shytload of pills and drugs at the same time. We went from 10 crack commandments to getting high on your own supply in a ten year span (from that songs inception, roughly 10 years at least)

I am ranting but thats how i feel.

now let my thread sink to the bottom (as always)

Yeah, it's definitely wack.

Drugs have always been an issue in Hip Hop, but cats used to at least have the decency to hide that they were users. Tragedy Khadafi, Craig G and MC Shan, all from The Bridge, and all of them used to have heavy issues with crack back in the day. Thing was, they didn't want people to know about it.

There used to be a high level of shame in fukkin' with drugs. Now it's like dudes think it's "cool" to say they're on something. It's almost become it's own little sub genre. I think it's corny, but it's unfortunate that it's gotten to this point.

Like someone said before, some rappers have been habitual users and have tried their best to hide it. BG was on heroine, DMX on crack, and whoever on whatever. Now, though, it's crazy - this new generation of hip-hop is all about that loud, poppin' pills, syrup and not giving a fukk about their own lives. I went to an A$AP Rocky show in LA a few months back and saw 5 or 6 little white girls being carried out the venue because they were doped up. It's absolutely wild for these rappers to continue endorsing shyt like this - but their excuse is, "I'm just rapping about what I know and see" Really?

Musicians in general have always been notorious drug abusers. some of your favorite old school rappers were coke heads.

opiates are 10 times more vile than cocaine. you can literally smell a dopefiend. its a strange odor that comes out their pores. plus these people shyt about 3 times a week if they are lucky. that's real sexy right? knowing that these females who pop pills got feces about to pop through their eyeballs.

:whoo:

Abuse is rampant nowadays I suspect because the options for the youth and population in general are shrinking. It's amazing to me how much poverty, debasement and racism exists in the supposed "enlightened" era. :what::hmm:

On one level things are improving for a handful of people, but I personally know many on the street level addicted to meth, powder, pills, getting drunk as fukk even at work "turnt up" every day just trying to get numb and forget how much their life sucks.

Dreaming about riches they will never see, and listening to rappers who are lying to them creating false hope about "balling" and being an "addict" at the same time... :sadcam:

shyt I myself was part of the walking dead for a full two years until I realized I was dying slow and decided to focus on self improvement and got back to studying my lessons...:smugbiden:

Speaking of which, that's also part of the problem. Too much ignorance not enough KNOWLEDGE

But I've said too much already :lawd:

Let's break this down a bit.

You've been seeing the effects of lyrics (which were the effects of this country's history) first hand. Now you're noticing? Now you care?

Look, when rappers were talking about drug dealing and weed smoking, there were still users. They were selling to people in the same communities.

Black people have been using hard drugs. If you support drug dealing raps over drug using raps, you're not making any sense at all. There will still be drug users in the hood if there are drug dealers in the hood. :childplease:

Drug dealers weren't lame? What the fukk?

There's so much wrong with your view of things. If you view crack in such a negative light, then raps about dealing it should be just as bad as raps about using it. Rappers have been glorifying crack sales since the beginning. Crack fukked up our communities, did you forget that? Where the fukk have you been?

You're not against crack use in the hood, you're against crack use in your raps. Which doesn't mean shyt. If you didn't have a problem with the situation before, don't start getting all moral now.

Would we feel the same way if nikkas were making song after song about crack and how good it feels? i am generalizing, but what about meth?

But it's OK to make song after song about selling crack? If someone's selling crack in the hood, then someone else is using crack in the hood.

If you were really against this shyt, you'd look at drug dealing rap in the same "really negative light."

Ahahaha, but you weren't disgusted about the dealers and the gangbangers (which led to many using these hard drugs anyway). All of the other shyt that rappers had "impressionable youth" doing was OK with you?

It's all fukking bad, breh. All of the fukked up shyt fukks us up, you cannot be selective.

You cant be a boss and pop a shytload of pills and drugs at the same time. We went from 10 crack commandments to getting high on your own supply in a ten year span (from that songs inception, roughly 10 years at least)

Your rant was quite ridiculous.

Clearly, you think it's cool to be a drug dealer (it's not, it's also lame) but lame to use the drugs. You just prefer hearing about people destroying their communities rather than destroying themselves. :wtf:

You make no sense. Anybody who does fukked up shyt because of rap gets the :childplease: face from me. No matter how popular it is. Jay-Z raps about selling drugs so you gotta sell drugs too? :childplease: Lil Wayne raps about using drugs so you gotta use drugs too? :childplease:
