When did test all become "open-book" and multiple choice?

This shyt is fukking me up. I'm in school now (college) and for the last several semesters, everything is open-book for the most part...except the exams. How can I learn if I am able to use the book to do my work? Why are schools allowing this shyt? Back in high school, I could never open a book to take ANY test...only homework. When did this shift happen.....it's fukking me up and I can't find the right way to study for my test

Your memory? And that's pretty much how the real world works as well. I can use any reference I want when developing an infrastructure or security program, but when I have to sit in front of a client or a boardroom full of C-level suits, I can't refer to shyt but my memory and skills.

should always be like that if its theoretical :manny: only thing that shouldnt is technical tests were you have to work shyt out i.e math, coding, practical engineering. all that other shyt wont even need to be to memorized in the real world as long as there is an internet connection in the office

To be honest my statistics professor :wtb: ( Fukk that Nikka). Always told us that open- book test were the worst test to give, because it heavily distracts you from the rest of the test. I think professors believe it's a good measure of how much you pay attention in class.

Breh, at "remember everything" shyt is bollox. When you are on the job, if you are missing a piece of the puzzle, you can look it up.

Instead of trying to pretend you can cram everything and wont forget it rigt after the test, schools should after a certain point operate like real life. Teachers always told me that certain mathematic principles would be necessary in life, and guess what, them b*stards lied :francis: learning how to quickly acquire information is just as if not more important than information retention.
