apart of me believe's the business suffers because how exposed it is now a days.. It's hard to get invested emotional wise..
IT happened in different layers. Where I remember really noticing it was the late 90s, 1998 and onward. That's where you started seeing the first wrestler books and all of those Off the Record interviews where they were pretty much out of character.
When I think fox did that special on wrestling
Yeah, I think it's a combination of things.
Yeah, wrestling has been technically "exposed" for a long time (like 100 years),, but with no internet or cable TV, it was more like inside information. I remember adults debating whether it was "fake" or not in the mid '90s.
The things that blew the doors off of everything were essentially products of the wrestling bloom of the late '90s.
Because wrestling was so popular, there were a lot of expose`s on it like "Secrets of Pro Wrestling" & "The Secret History of Professional Wrestling", which both aired at the peak of the Attitude/NWO era.
Then the internet was becoming popular at the same exact time, which allowed fans and insiders to share inside information.
The thing that probably took wrestling to a place of no return was the "Montreal Screwjob", which made news all over the world. I remember watching it on like CNN and shyt.
