To interject here, imo HNIC was partially glimpses of peak Prodigy and partially Prodigy on the decline.

Songs like Can’t Complain, Keep It Thoro are clearly prime P. But a good bit of this album is when P’s voice started transitioning to the deeper, grumpier old man tone and his flow started to slow down.

Murda Muzik was mostly classic P

That's when it become apparent. But at least the music was banging. Bow Down is a west coast classic.

But War and Peace was a wrap

I agree with you on Em and 50.

Ems first three albums were all enjoyable. I even acknowledge MMLP as a classic.

But Encore was wack. I knew old Em was dead.

Massacre had alot of great songs, but man it had alot of shyt in it too. Such generic garbage singles, 50 became formulaic. It was shocking how quick he was going the Ja route. Massacre you knew the downward slope had begun for 50

Art of War was dope, as was BTHN Resurrection. I think they started to fall off with Thug World Order. Had some decent cuts, but when they did a song with 3LW...:francis:

Nah. Art of War has dope tracks but they were heading a different direction and although that's natural and Crossroads remix foreshadowed that turn, they couldn't match up with Creepin and E99. Those two records are almost perfect.

I never bought a bone record again after aow cuz I knew it was over.

Creepin’ and E. 1999 are classics, but if you go back and listen to AOW, that was damn dope too. Even the “soft” songs like “If I Could Teach The World” and “Playa Hater” (which I guess is what you’re referring to).

I just think it was obvious Bone was done with the hard core tone and even tho AoW had some tracks in the same vein as E99 it just felt different. I was in high school during Bones run and kind of like WU after Forever, both groups were just different and the rawness they once had was fading.

That album had some dope shyt up there though

    Dr Frankenstein
    Ghetto Vet
    3 Strikes
    Ask about Me

But the days of him delivering the harsh commentary of what really went on in the hood like he did with Death Certificate and The Predator were gone.

DJ Paul has never been a dope rapper, but knew how to ride the hell out a beat. Yet, he’s been terrible for awhile now, I just can’t pinpoint exactly when his falloff happened. Juicy J has always had a crisp flow, and could literally rap just like he did in the late 90s and 00s, he just chooses not to.

Come to think of it, DoggyStyle and Blue Carpet Treatment are the only albums I only cared about.
