Same here, I wanted to live that hoop dream( loved Jordan and Reggie Miller), I moved from another country so basketball was the easiest American sport to grasp, but I wish I would of focused on American football or baseball more.
I just hated getting my ass hit in football I took everything personal, if I knew what I knew now.

What country did you come from?

I bloomed too late. :sadcam:

I was 5'0 as a freshmen. Didnt make the team. Thru high school I was one of the best shooters in the city, me and this guy at the University. I was 5'9 when I graduated. Now I'm 6'2 220lb, with a 6'10 wingspan. Still pretty athletic, everyone thinks I played football or something. I feel like a waste of genes.

I was a really good left hand pitcher, with a lot of movement on my balls. 2 guys I played with got picked up by the Brewers. 100k a year fresh out of high school and I was on a damn ship.I'm almost sure I wouldve made it to the pros, unless I got injured. I can throw close to 75 mph right now still. I should never started playing basketball

Breh you blew it, if you can hit 85+ as a lefty you're gettin drafted.

When I played in this this Nike Tournment (not the big one) and played against TJ Ford and that nikka gave me that work. :snoop:

At the time everybody didn't know he would end up being a top NBA draft pick but he was one of the best HS point guards in Texas...

But dude was just so effortless with it from his handles, his quickness, his passes, I think he probably only took 4 shots in the game so its not like I got embarassed or anything but you could just tell he had "it" He ripped me so cleaned twice I was just like :wow:

I didn't even get serious about basketball untl 10th grade cause was all about football at that point. So I never really thought I was going to the NBA. But that shyt let me know I had a looong way to go...

I know I did bruh. It's hard for me to watch baseball. I was watching the little leaguer and almost threw up. That's what happens when you're around people that don't know much.

TJ Ford came in as a freshman and took my homeboy spot at Texas.

When I came to America during the summer for basketball camp when I was 16 and the coach told me I would need to be a PG/SG because of my height (I was 6'2). Spent the whole summer working on my guard game and saw massive improvements but when I went back home (London, UK) my coach made me play center :beli:

My game regressed horribly :to:

Now I'm 6'5 with a solid post & inside game, average handles and inconsistent jumper :to:

I'm a taller Andre Miller without the playmaking ability :to:

I was 16 years old, 6'4,170 lbs, athletic. I was bussing dudes ass left and right in France for the 18 and under club team. I used be on that Lebron wait for your lay up and swat that shyt on the backboard.
I did a Nike event in Paris where they look for youngins who can hoop. A HS in South Carolina "invited" me to come to the US for a year and play HS ball. Nikka we made it!
:banderas:

I wasn't even done unpacking and they took me to meet my high school coach
-STAND UP SON.:beli:
-Do you lift weights with your team at home?
-no sir
-How old are you again son?
-16 sir
You 16 and you never lifted weights before?
-:guilty: No sir
-Open gym starts Thursday at 4, my son will be here, he's a freshman Shooting guard at USC, we'll see how you hold up…

I could blame it on the obvious size and strength mismatch, culture shock, language barrier, the weather (playing ball in a gym with no a/c in the summer in South Carolina is no joke ),
You can believe that I felt pressure playing 1vs1 against this kid in his daddy's gym, the gym that he grew up in and won state titles in.
You can even factor that dude had been in college for a year lifting, eating right, playing vs SEC athletes and I had been in the country 3 days and hadn't touched a basketball in weeks, much less played in that gym before. IT DIDNT MATTER!!!

dude basically bullied me on the court. He backed me down and scored at will 5 times before I scored my first bucket....He was talking that boss talk too :scusthov:
everytime he scored, he would yell something like GET BIG!!!! or FROMAGE!!!

when I saw that same dude as a sophomore at USC on espn and he was coming off the bench, he wasn't even a starter, he got in the game and got his shyt blocked and couldn't even beat his man off the dribble…
I knew both our nba careers were :deadmanny: status

After a saw a little movie called "Hoop Dreams," I knew my chances of making the league were slim to none. I think I was an 8th grader the first time I saw it. Thing is, I was short as hell once I graduated 8th grade (5'5") but I had pretty elite athleticism for my age. I was damn near grabbing the rim then, plus I was super fast. Over that summer, I grew like 2 more inches and was damn near dunking my freshman year at 5'7". I figured if I could tap to at 6' I would be a beast, but I only grew to 5'9". Also, I didn't like the HS I went to and planned on transferring. As a result, I never tried out for the team or anything. By Jr year, I realized I wasn't going anywhere, so I tried out for varsity. Now, I had never played organized ball in my life. I was in practice fukking up simple plays because I simply didn't know the game. Plus I didn't have adequate shoes to hoop in. I quit before I got the chance to get cut.

I feel like with my athleticism at the time, had I learned the game and been coached at an early age, I could've made it somewhere. I'm 31 now, and I'd say my actual game is better now than it was when I was 10 years younger...I just can't do the shyt I used to be able to do because of various injuries I've had over the years. I never go 100% when I play anyway. One thing I will say is my defense is still there. I'm a lockdown defender now, but back then, I was even more elite because I could challenge shots at the rim on some D-Wade shyt.
