When I moved back to the south around 18/19.
1st grade teacher kept on giving me bad progress reports and my dad whipped me with a belt every thursday

H.S I guess.
weird cause all my schools were mixed (except elementary, that was 99% black), middle school was mixed cause were were bused in from various areas, but no cliques, but by H.S you noticed racial cliques. Not me tho, played varsity ball, whole team was mixed so us plus the girls around us were mixed. we literally had everyone. from polynesian to jewish to black to mexican to irish, we had everyone. but yea I noticed racial divide by 10th grade.

When I was about 12 or 13, my child minder was white she had a black step daughter from a first marriage her real father had just upped and left one day, she adopted the girl , she remarried to a policeman who had his own (white) daughter, This policeman came down much harder on his black step daughter,he never really beat her,but he would raise his hand to her but never lay a finger on his own daughter who could get away with anything .
Now it's difficult to know if it was all about race as I have known some step parents be complete shyts to their step children when they are the same race,, but certainly in the english town I grew up in the racial makeup of that family was at that time rare for the area,though I can't remember ever hearing anyone make a racist comment to her and I was in her class in school,she was the only black kid in the class at school , My mother reckoned it was because she was black as I remember asking her why he was so hard on her.

I was living in southern Georgia; before class would start all the students had to sit in the gym, with each grade designated a certain part of the gym and you could see clearly that the white kids would hang with their own and the same with the black kids.

little kids know when someone from another race is in their presence
lil white kids especially be shook or curious when they see a black person
if u aint never had a lil crakka just stare at you, then run behind they mommy/daddy then i don't even think yall really black to begin with
