So I've watched about 20-25 episodes of AD.

Now, don't get me wrong. Great show! Very funny! Good writing, uniquely shot, keeps me interested to a degree.

BUT

The way people talk about AD it's like, the most classic show ever. The only way a show could get more classic is if Tony Soprano moved to Baltimore and moonlit as a meth dealer (although, presumably Tony Soprano, while moving to Baltimore, would keep his job as a mobster thus meaning that he wouldn't have to moonlight as a drug dealer/chemist because surely pushing drugs is already like, 3 pages back on his CV.)

Anyway, you get my point.

Should I keep going or do the rest of the seasons get really better? It's like, at that point where I'm mildly interested to keep going, but it's not going to kill me if I quit right now.

If you watched that many eps and not feeling it yet then it's not for you:manny:

Get ready for the AD defenders to tell you how you don't get it and everything goes over your head or you're just trying to be different

"AD" is one of the best written shows, any genre. There's probably a ton of jokes you didn't even notice. And I'm not saying that to insult your intelligence, it's just how the show is written. There is the broadly comedic, obvious shyt then there is little jokes that tie into things you haven't seen yet, or are just in the background for a second, etc.

You'd have to be on some Sherlock Holmes level of perception to catch every single joke, or even most of them, on your first viewing.

Yeah, it's "Very funny!" what 8 years later. that means it is classic, stood the test of time. that's still isn't living up to the hype?!

Good point. Usually I watch with no distractions, but I'll admit sometimes I'll be lazily surfing the internet or something.

I'm gonna keep going guys. :ld:

Good point about its longevity and its freshness years later. Perhaps it was that ahead of its time that a lot of other sitcoms sorta look like it now and it's not out of place.

I think one factor is any sitcom I watch I always compare it to Seinfeld b/c it's the GOAT. AD comes close, in some aspects exceeds but dunno, still sorta missing something for me, but I can't quite put a finger to it. :leostare:

If Seinfeld is your GOAT have you checked out Curb Your Entusiasm ?

Curb is up there as the GOAT comedy in my opinion with Arrested Development

It's classic from episode 1. Especially if you watch the extended pilot :blessed:

Yeah Curb is probably number 2 on my list of GOAT shows.

I think I'll eventually finish all of AD before the new season. Pos rep to all once I'm off 24s.

It doesn't get classic. It's the most overrated TV show of all-time. Not worthy of touching Seinfeld's jock.
