The shame. Another dumbass who thinks the ideal image of beauty and acceptance is white. White people that make fun of racial facial features aren't the ones to change - they're still gonna fukking look at us like we're second class. I once knew a pair of half white half chinese twins when I was in college.. I asked them what heritage they claimed to be and they instantly spat out WHITE OF COURSE, throwing their other heritage in the bushes. Never spoke to em since. I missed out on some p*ssy and weed cause of that but my dignity remained intact.

Most Asian men aren't desperate to look white. Here in Hong Kong, it's cool to adopt western culture without actually being white. Hairstyles, food, clothes, entertainment, cars, all that. Dudes wana claim they grew up in America or Europe while not speaking a drop of fukking English. Meanwhile I'm here having lived too fukking long in the UK and I don't feel Asian enough.

Asian women want to look white so bad, they buy whitening creams everyday. Scared of the sun. It's not like bleaching with some African Americans/Africans where it's not a massive thing and it's pretty much hush hush (well, as far as I can tell). 99% of women OPENLY do this. Also trying to look skinny as fukk like the white fashion models always portrayed on tv and magazines.

Since the British invaded Hong Kong for decades and made Chinese people want to act and be white, when they left, something got left behind.

'light' skin has always been seen as upper class because they werent working in th sun, while farmers did, and always rocked a tan and scruffy look. you can watch any old chinese or japanese movie and see the princess or queen with very light porcelain skin. Geishas were also long before the euros got there, and that white paint had nothing to do with europeans. lightening is ancient in asia.

Reminds me of the story of that Caribbean boy who was considered white at home, but when he went to the Old Country, the Scandinavians never think for two seconds that he was white. We're the Scandinavians, and he's the Caribbean boy.

That young man in the article thinks there are certain Asian markers which are flaws and must be erased. Why would he think that?

I know people get nose jobs out here because their noses are 'ethnic'. A big nose isn't just a big nose, it's a cultural identifier. Kim K wasn't shaving her nose down for a decade because she had airpath issues. If big noses were associated with WASPiness, then the All-American Jews who control all the images wouldn't be shaving theirs down, and the non-WASP whites who eat those images up wouldn't be shaving theirs down either.

I guess I want to ask who told those Asians that super thick eyelids look sleepy? To whom? In comparison to what? The shyt is insiduous. If you look around, you'll see lip reduction surgery out there, with fake reasons given for having your lips reduced, usually relating to 'health'. The only pictures you'll see having it done are people of color. Who would told people of color that having large lips was a health endangerment?

That poor boy in the article actually thinks he looks less Asian, therefore his identity isn't as Asian as it was before. If he himself thought that his non-rounded eyes made him more Asian, and that removing what God gave him makes him less Asian, then it's not really about looking sleepy versus alert.

As for Cacs getting butt implants, I remember a news clip that went viral of anchors making fun of a white woman whose butt implants went bad; I remember thinking to myself, they'd never make fun of that woman on air, if those were tit implants which failed and flopped. Maybe I was wrong, though on that one. I will say, white people make fun of other white people all the time for looking orange, fake baking, or being above the age of 40 with permanently tanned skin (usually tossing around phrases involving 'leather'). They also call out women who get fake lips as 'trout lips'.

I guess the comparison is that Asian people trying to look whiter and White people appropriating black body parts both claim they aren't doing it to look more like another race, even if they are?

I'm not too sure about the rest of China (probably similar shyt), but westernised Chinese people usually are like wtf you doin lightening yourself, but you obviously gonna get some who encourage it.

-the majority of the asian population don't look like his first picture. in that picture he might look very asian to you and me, but actually he just looks like an ugly asian dude. if you watch ANY chinese commercials, they look more like his post op picture. That is because that is whats aesthetically better looking. extremes of any race, like being too dark, being too pale, have extremely folded eyelids, are unusual and people on the extreme spectrum tend to want to do something about it to blend back into the population. if a black woman who is pitch black like wesley snipes is using skin lightner, its not to look white, its to look medium brown, which is what the majority of the population is. your average AA is the same skin tone as Kobe or AI, not Wesley Snipes. We have jokes for super dark people, much like asians have jokes for those with super thick exaggerated eye folds. The west actually doesnt have that big of an influence on the asian look, thats a myth, on the contrary we are completely different. Asians tend to put 'cute innocent' looking girls with youthful looks in their ads, while we tend to put 'sexy' WOMEN on ours. They think Lucy Liu is ugly, and the girls they put in their ads look nothing like anything we'd put in ours. Japan is proof in that, just look at their porn, you won't find one girl who resembles a woman, they all have that cute girl thing going on. which is a very asian trait. we like our women to look sexy women who know how to whore it up, not wearing school girl uniforms and pigtails.

as for white people calling their own out. we all do. skin bleaching is seen as complete bullshyt to black people, and eye lid surgery is also looked down upon in asia. I can't remember her name, but me and my girl were watching a very popular movie (its actually the biggest chinese movie ever, and takes place in thailand, im sure you can find it) and the girl at the end is supposedly like their angelina jolie, super famous model. anyways, this girl was ostracized so much by the media about her features (heck I thought she had plastic surgery too) that she had to get confirmation, kinda like Kim Kardasian and her ass. I thought it was funny that Kim has to prove her ass is real, meanwhile this chick had to prove her eyefolds were real.

so as you can see, your eyes are just giving white people the benefit of the doubt, while not realizing you're practically falling into the category you're trying to put all of these asian in......influenced by white media.

these articles are a low key attempt to brag of everyone trying to be white, which in itself is attempting to state white is what everyone wants to be, which is not true. but if you tell people that, you assume they are leading by default. clever tactic.

I know this because I've had 3 serious relationships in my last 3 years here in china. that's 1 per year. my first 2 had 'typical' chinese eyes. my girl now, has thicker folds than normal for a chinese. they're more in line with koreans who have the thickest fold on average. she is the ONLY girl ive ever heard talk about the surgery. when I asked her if its because she wants to look more western, she literally busted up laughing and said 'you americans are very arrogant, do you think us chinese think about you? do I look like a daughter of a govt official? (basically another word for rich kid, or one that studies abroad), do you think making my eyes wider will make me less asian? how stupid!" this is an actual quote from last friday.

so you see, the 2 first girlfriends who are by far more westernized, have better english, and way more association with foreigners then my current gf, never mentioned the fold to me, but the current gf, who I am the first foreigner she has ever had contact with......is talking about the fold. it dawned on me, that its not to look western, thats some shyt we made up, she's doing it to blend in with the rest of the population. dark skinned blacks arent lightening their skin to look white, they lightening their skin to blend in with the rest of the population where chocolate brown is normal and more pleasing, or aesthetically more attractive. just like pale skin is usual and seen as sickly, so they tan. everyone wants to be in the middle, no one wants to be on the extreme spectrum of any race.
