Dont you think it contradicts itself specially in todays time to ask for more than $8.75 that is a bottom of the barrel price? This job sounds like it isnt anything great so as soon as you say you want more they are going to hit you with the :camby: immediately .

Can you do some research to see what the salary range or max is? if the max is lower than $10 then you can forget it. But if it's higher, ask for the max and let them bring it down.

:heh:I asked for $10 for an overnight stocking job a week ago, when i previously worked for the company for 2 years. They wanted to pay me 8.75-9, and passed on me. If you absolutely don't need that job, swing for the fukking fences. Otherwise, you will end up like I have over the years, accepting a shyt ass job, and realizing while you are working there, you missed out on higher-paying opportunities. I don't like quitting on folks out of the blue, but lord knows I should have a few times to make a few more bucks, with better hours and location.

Don't settle if you don't have to.

With such a low wage, chances are there's not much room, if any, for negotiating...they're just looking for a body.

But generally, you have to make them WANT you first as opposed to them just picking you out of a pool. Try to avoid talking money for as long as possible, preferably not until they make make their offer. Then just hit em with the "I need ___" :manny:

Do you know how many people I passed over at interviews because they want more money? Behind that one person wanting $10 is 5 more who will gladly work for $8.75.

If you feel as if you deserve me (especially as a new hire who hasn't proven to me that their skills deem more pay) then go for a different job then.

if you're making that much money you're not really in a position to complain.

And you only do it when they bring it up.
