Death Row when Dre was there had there moments.

Wu Tang did their share as well ("9th Chamber" is :merchant:)

No Limit had a lil sumthin sumthin

But Mobb Deep personified that "dark/evil" sound like no other.

I cant lie tho...Them Glory Boyz might be garbage lyrically but they are reigning when it comes to those evil sounding tracks...Songs like "Better Play It Smart" and "How you want it" are proof of that.

Take a song like "Tear The Club Up", you can hear the attempt but u can also hear that "cheap" sound where as a song like "Shook Ones" or "Eye For An Eye" have that perfect mix making the mood sound cinematic.

If you think tear da club up is a "dark beat" by 3-6 standards... i'm going to go'head and assume you know nothing about their catalog.

There are probably 10-15 "darker" beats than that on the album that song is from...unless we talking about tear da club up '95.

I guess u just assumed wrong.

I used a popular 3-6 song and compared it to popular Mobb Deep songs.

Again....I hear the cheapness in those 36 beats....Mobb Deep mixes are just better. If anything I could see a better argument towards E 1999 over some of the 36 songs mentioned in here because the mixes are more superior. E 1999 had that cinematic dark sound all throughout that album.
