If we look at the sheer volume of classic raps released, is he?
I was listening to illmatic the other day. Still makes you go
. And then listened to "Stay", one of my favorite tracks from recent years, and "Triple Beam Dreams", my favorite feature from the last few years... I mean damn, dude had it and never lost it. Who else can compare?
1. Made the greatest diss ever in ETHER
2. From Illmatic to Stillmatic and Life Is Good, never stopped being a great rapper and never changed his angle. Kept it real at all times.
3. Was honest and spit from the heart, never faked or acted (like certain insecure camels who shall not be mentioned)
4. GOAT
interviews
5. Actually comes across as a legit confident, wise dude and treats other rappers like his sons, and he sounded that way from when he was 21. May not be the best businessman or family man but is clearly a cool dude to roll up and smoke a blunt with.
I know the comparisons are coming, so I'll skip ahead and say that Tupac is maybe a better musician, but as a pure rapper Nas is head and shoulders above him, and I'm a Pac stan.
Jay has great albums and a great body of work, but he was always more smokes and mirrors than straight up raps, and we all know this... He's a hustler first, rapper second. Good on him for everything he did but as a rapper, Nas >>>>
