When Nick Foles can throw for 7 TD's, is it safe to say that Football has jumped the shark?

I didnt watch the game, but were most of the TDs yac/good runs by the WRs
or was he chucking it down the field like peyton.

Because if its the former, then yea its a fluke

What? You honestly think teams are struggling to run on short yardage because they don't practice it?

Defensive line players now move like skill players. It's not a coincidence it's tougher to run the football.

He had a lot of long passes...but as someone who's seen every Foles start I will say he looks very solid against bad teams and bad defenses. He can throw it as well as anyone under those conditions so its not suprising that he could pull a game like this. When u put him against a good team with a defense that comes to play he completely falls apart tho

you said defensive lines are better than ever and then said the best thing against them is to run a qb sneak with one of the most slow, fragile qb out there.

you dont see a problem with your statement ?

oh wait you must think teams dont practice defending the qb sneak or something ? :heh:

Brady's success rate on the QB sneak on 3rd/4th and 1 is like the best in NFL history. The time it takes to hand the ball off on an obvious run down gives the DL an advantage.

Around the time Pro-Football-Reference added the Game Play Finder in 2012, I used it to look up Tom Brady's rushing success in short-yardage situations (third or fourth down, 1-2 yards to go). The results were staggering. Including last season, in his regular-season career Brady is 88 out of 91 (96.7 percent) on these runs, including 56 straight conversions. That's almost as efficient as the extra point. After researching some other quarterbacks, I found that most of them had great conversion rates. This is largely due to the quarterback sneak, which has worked 85.9 percent of the time since 2009.

what the fukk does that have to do with anything ?

you just said that DLs NOW are beasts and you cant get short yardage on them with RBs...but according to you, less athletic QBs CAN do it :mindblown:

your ass always tries to sneak qbs in arguments that has nothing to do with them. you really think football revolves around them :heh:

Did you look at the stats I just posted? Why are you against statistics? The link I just posted proves exactly what I was saying.

fair enough, I didnt see the link -my bad. I'll have to look at the stats closely.
still I dont see how your argument about DL beasts come in the play. if they cant stop a fukking qb sneak which basically involves ducking or jumping behind your center, then they are not beasts. DLs back in the day hit the qbs who tried to sneak the ball hard and while I dont have the stats, Im sure the conversion rate wasnt anywhere close to one thats cited

the downfall of the run game is because of the leagues love with passing and scoring, not some beastly DLs, imo

The sneak is the more efficient play in short yardage, it's pretty logical when you think about it. In obvious running downs the defensive line has the advantage if an offense decides to run it. A QB is fair game to hit on a sneak.

Like I said earlier, I hate the new rules involving hitting the QB and defenseless receivers- but the new rules have not changed interior play on either side. Coaches mindlessly running a "short yardage" back into a brick wall was never a good play. The Giants had Brandon Jacobs as their short yardage back forever because he was big- the problem was he sucked in short yardage. Teams pigeon hole themselves into archaic practices because coaches are afraid to challenge the old school mentality.

We still have baseball writers and managers pinning to RBI's as if they're a important stat.
