I'm thinking back to a few times a posted a few anti-Trump photoshops on mainstream social forums. Every time I did, there'd be a lot of thumbs down ratio wise. I'm not talking negged of a website or anything, but the ratio was pretty clear. Even when I used to post comments back in the Yahoo News days, I'd see a lot of downvotes. I just assumed it was trolling from political operatives because no matter what you said it was the same consistent flow coming back at you.

I posted a picture of a baby pissing fountain or something, photoshopped the head orange with Trump 2016 or something :mjlol: Just something stupid, but all this negativity came back, had me :dahell: mostly because of how heated the comments were for small shyt like that

In hindsight, those weren't bots or astroturfers, those were Americans

When you looked at his rallies and he was filling up places and Hillary's looked like a meet and greet at your local walmart :scust:

But people, including myself, told ourselves lies it didn't mean anything. It's not a sign of what happens in the voting booth.

He lost the popular vote.

We didn't know about CA, Manafort, and the extent of what Russia did till years afterwards.

I certainly thought it would be close and encouraged everyone I knew to vote for Hillary.

I live in a comically red county and the amount of Trump shyt I saw should have been the red flag, McCain and Romney didn't have nearly as much shyt up during 08 and 2012 I shrugged it off as living around a bunch of Far Right white folk and didn't realize Trump had that much juice around the country when I turned on NPR to get the election update on my final break at work :picard::picard: I was in genuine shock

When he won Florida. That was the 1st big state and it was called kinda quick and Ohio was a massacre. I just remember having this look on my face all night:what:
When Virginia was taking forever. I figured she would lose North Carolina. If she lost Virginia I figured she wouldn’t win Florida. And then she lost Pennsylvania.

I went to bed around 930 that night. I figured I would need the rest. I remember posting that on another forum. If you are organizer the next 4 years we’re going to define you. I became politically active during the Kerry campaign. I remember feeling really lousy afterwards. I promised myself I was never going to feel that way again.

When my sister called me and told me she knew trump was gonna win a week before the election. My sister never makes predictions and I didn't even know she was into politics like that. But she was sure Trump was gonna win and said watch and see. She said it with such disgust I just thought she was being negative. But she gave me that uneasy feeling, I shrugged it off but as the results came back all I could think about was her worda and I just wondered what it was she saw that made her so sure.

The weird thing is, she doesn't even remember calling me.

I never thought he would win but I realized the shyt was gonna be too close for comfort when I went out on a road trip to western PA a week before the election. Never saw so many Trump/Pence signs and stickers in my life. All up and down major highways, on cars, on walls, etc. Shyt was inescapable.

What they say about Pennsylvania between Pittsburgh and Philly is true as fukk :scust:.

All through Summer 2016 I was convinced he wasn't going to win. I thought the Senate would be 50-50 with Kaine being the tiebreaker..

But in October 2016 before the Comey letter dropped and after the p*ssy tape dropped, I saw the USC/LA Times poll having Trump up in their tracker. They were pretty accurate in 2014 and I was like :leon: they are sticking with their guns. (They were also accurate in 2018)

I also drove through Western Maryland and Pennsylvania before the election and all of the Trump signs were everywhere.

Obviously Trump lost the popular vote but narrowly leading a national poll lead to the narrow Ws in MI, WI, PA...

People would very much consider me a "coastal elite", in 2016 I was in only in San Diego, New York, Miami, and Spain. I saw no indication he would win, besides the obvious, that I explained to some, he for sure had a chance he was the Republican nominee in a two person race! I also assured someone I really care about, that he wouldn't win, as the consequences for her were high.

If there was any flashing red indicator in SD, it was many of my friends from HS, fathers, and the way they talked about the election, I foolishly assumed even in their age, race, class, they wouldn't vote for Trump, and yet, they used a lot of both sides talking points, and defamed Hillary Clinton to no end. At least one was a major Obama supporter.

It wasn't until that night, when I saw the NY Times tracker at 70% for Trump winning. That was when I knew.
