Its possible, but it makes the site look like trash (like any other site that has gif avis) and i'm sure it would slow down servers.

Gifs, images, and image smilies are really enough. Start adding that to avis then sigs would bog down the posting experience.

Nope. Once the gif is cached it won't be downloaded from the server again.
If you have an extra dead ass pc then id feel for ya
