Was it Batista in 05?

Its really been 8 years?

shyt that may be why it seems there aren't any stars being made like there used to be. Look at how winning the rumble and then winning the WM Main Event shot HBK, Austin, Batista, Cena, etc straight to stardom.

So many talents couldve used that type of rub the past 8 years. :snoop:

they replaced using money in the bank for rumble to build new stars but the concept of attacking someone while they are down doesn't build up new stars at all and makes them look weak

the rumble when used right has been a special lifting moment...would have been great to use on DB before he won the title

i mean didn't they have Del Rio win the rumble and he wasn't champ everyone was happy then but then turned on him years later as far as internet fans

No one was happy with Edge going over ADR at Wmania cept those who "see clearly" :lolbron:

With or without Edge's injury, it was a dumb move and sure enough it killed ADR's momentum when he was at his peak. He's never been the same, same thing with Wade Barrett and Ryback and countless others they build-up strong as hell just to job when it counts the most and *POOF* heat eliminated. They've tried and tried and tried to do the same with guys like Bryan and Punk but their talent level keeps theie head above water, in ring and on the mic.

I think the plan was for ADR to go over but once edge told them he was gonna have to retire they changed it up. Definitely shouldve went over tho

They don't care about any of that shyt. Didn't you watch WM 29? They only care about Cena looking good and the rest of the roster and anything according to logic is out of the window. Cena winning and Taker matches being hyped...that's what Mania is all about. All of that CM Punk 400 day reign shyt was a gimmick..he was being pushed out of main events for Cena..even in his own hometown. Now...it's funny because Cena hasn't been main eventing shyt since Bryan and Punk teamed up.

Edge didn't know he was gonna retire that soon until a week later after that segment with Del Rio and he got the neck stuff. Then he had to quit immediately after getting the MRI results from the previous Smackdown.

Sheamus had already won the WWE title tho'... twice

And yeah, not sure why they haven't done this in years. That's a classic buildup. Of course it shouldn't happen all the time cause that'd make it repetitive but it's been long enough. The issue is, most people who get a spark and get the crowd behind them, WWE (and internet fans also) have zero patience when it comes to having them become main eventers. So they end up having them win the title at other times in the year instead of giving them that big Rumble/Mania setup.

And as fate would have it, that's why the last time they REALLY put a "new" guy on top was that year Batista/Cena went to Mania. Everybody else since has won their first title on Raw, SD, or a PPV that doesn't draw half what Mania draws
.

And as for Del Rio... I don't even think he should've won that Rumble in the first place. He had only been there for four months and should've had a chance to grow as a character/performer more. And the way shyt turned out, he was gonna end up a boring one-dimensional muhfukka one way or the other... and that became evident later that year.

and what makes it worst, they let Christian win the title the next month at "Extreme Rules" just out of sympathy for Edge :russ:

Those back 2 back L's ruined it for poor Del Rio and the fans officially quit on him when he stuck his random nose in the Summerslam 11' main event and cashed in his MITB briefcase on the red hot CM Punk.

How you win the 40 Man Royal Rumble and MITB briefcase in the same year and still not over? :smh:

Thats cause they're foolish and dont recognize talent. Christian was always better than Edge IMO
