They literally signed JR so that World of Sport doesn't have him commentate.

They're doing a UK show and collaborating with UK/European indies to cement themselves in that market, as they understand there's a hole there.

I can't blame them, because World of Sport is on ITV which is going to be seen by many, many people. WWE's UK TV deal is paid subscription and I even heard they're only watched by like 50k people lol.

They're doing a lot to keep indies like ROH to thrive. While WWE is not in direct competition with anyone, I've never seen them be this cautious.

To put it into perspective, World of Sport had 1.25 million on a New Year's eve show on ITV. That's 25x the viewers Raw gets in the UK. It's a big deal. They aren't in direct competition, but they would have destroyed the UK wing of the WWE. With Impact partnering with them and AAA/CRASH, wrestling is about to enter a boom period by 2020 I think.
