When will Nintendo fans finally admit that things won't change?

The Nintendo 64 came out in 1996. It's been almost 20 years. The third parties started leaving back then and they aren't coming back.

Every Nintendo home console with the exception of the Wii since the SNES has sold worse than the system it followed. If we're also truthful most of them have been pretty mediocre overall. Third party support has continued to dwindle until now it has reached virtually nothing. We've now reached a point where Nintendo is basically the only company putting out games on its home consoles. You're better off buying their home consoles at the end of their lives and picking up the 5 or so games you actually care about at a discount.

Them putting out new hardware will change nothing. The Wii U was just all of Nintendo's problems finally catching up to it after decades of the company trying to outrun them. Now that they've hit rock bottom there's no ladder to climb back up on.

Look I'm a Detroit Lions fan so I know what delusional hope looks like. Nintendo parallels the Detroit Lions in many ways. Every year you hope for something better. There's talent there and we all know it but the sum total of all the parts just doesn't add up to much of anything. Every season the fans say this time it'll be different but deep down they know it won't and reality proves their fears correct. Ever after that happens the cycle continues the same exact way the next time around.

Nintendo has a great strategy for their own interests most of the time, but the problem is that their systems now are secondary consoles. They just don't have the support to be a console that can satisfy most gamers out there on it's own.

Is this a problem financially? Nah, Nintendo still makes a lot of money. The problem is that people want to make it seem like the select few are the only ones who see Nintendo's brilliance. Everyone sees it, their first party games are A1 tier, right at the top of the top. The question is do you want to pay $300+ for a console that will only get 3-5 games that you will play? The answer to that is clearly NO for most people.

The Wii was a lucky hit, it focused on casuals before the iPhone and smartphones took over. That market left console gaming. That damn Wii hurt Nintendo in the eyes of the core gamer. I often see older gamers say "Never again will I buy a Nintendo console" as a result of that abomination that was called the Wii.

Nintendo fukked up ROYALLY with the Wii U. I consider that a great console that appeals to the core crowd, but unfortunately kept the "Wii" name to try to hook the casuals again. Bad move, big failure. The casuals left and the core was not happy with the original Wii.

The numbers speak for themselves, you simply don't go from 100+ million sales down to under 10 million in the USA/Japan in a generation. That just doesn't happen...even Mattrick could not fukk up the xbox one that bad to cause that kind of damage. shyt would have been catastrophic for any other company not named Nintendo.

btw I think the NX will outsell the Wii U. I can't imagine that happening again.

If the NX delivers on 80% of it's promises, Nintendo will be back to where it used to be (or close to it). Nintendo is a 100 year old company that is stubborn as hell.

That's not a good thing. The Wii was terrible, easily the worst major console I ever played on. I never got comfortable with the Wii mote and was a chore to play through those great galaxy games.

ah, i meant coming for they necks sales wise like the wii. but the NX itself goin change alotta peoples opinions on nintendo,, juss wait....

The same people that hate Wii and wii u are going to dive head 1st into VR and motion controls and camera for the playstation.

nintendo has a brand so strong that it doesn't even need 3rd party developers like that. When developers do choose to come back its all but a wrap for MS and Sony. Especially microsoft.

Nintendo has there vision and they stick to it, fail or not. I respect that.

Even if the NX ends up being some awesomely capable system...and manages to change the opinion of Nintendo for the better...will folks actually flock to purchase it? Especially the hardcore gamers who already have a PS4/X-Box One? Are folks really buying multiple systems like that? Can the market actually support three strong consoles?

This video sums up Nintendo quite accurately.

Yeah, this nailed it. Fortunately Nintendo fans on the fence are coming to realize Nintendo's legendary "warchest" won't save them if NX fails; it's all or nothing now.
