How long into this current gen will we stop seeing major titles being released on last gen consoles?

2015 seems to be starting the trend with Bloodborne, the new Batman, Halo, Battlefront etc... but there's still games like MGS5 that will be launching on PS3/360.

A lot of the biggest releases so far have had a last gen counterpart outside of some console exclusives.

Is it safe to say that we'll start really seeing what this gen is about late 2015 going into 2016?
:ld:

I guess when they officially stop selling last gen consoles or some sore of due date of that day is announced.

Because they care about money and there are alot more people with ps3/360's than there are with ps4/xb1.

They just stopped making PS2 games like 2-3 years ago. AAA titles that are guaranteed money makes are gonna be on last gen consoles too for a while.

I'm not talking about sports titles or games that nobody cares about.

I'm talking about the big games. I think we'll stop seeing them on last-gen consoles by 2016. We're already seeing these major titles this year not have a last gen version. The only exception I can think of is, MGS5. The other AAA titles for the most part have thrown the last gen port in the bushes.

Also they need to make the jump to next gen worth it before phasing out the last gen. I have a PS4 and a Wii U, and I keep up with all the video game news, and honestly, I kind of feel like I would have waited at least until the end of 2015, maybe even mid 2016.
That's because this gen has been the "remaster" and port generation so far. That's why I made this thread.

It's safe to say that we'll start seeing more games that won't have any previous gen limitations in Q4 2015 and 2016. So many games so far have been held back because of this whole "console parity" BS that devs have been trying to achieve between 2 different generation of consoles.

Yeah, just the cost of gaming being what it costs to make these days. Everybody got try to recoup.

Weren't they still making ps2 games up until a couple years ago? :heh:

They will keep making games for last gen as long as they keep selling.

As next gen games get more advanced well start seeing more games to the COD or Asscreed route of releasing two totally different games.

People assume incorrectly that Its last gen games holding back current gen. But in reality its just time and resources. These games have been in development for years. Using technology that was created and perfected for lag gen consoles. It wouldn't make sense to throw all that work in the bushes and concentrate solely on new technology. They will ease into it like with every gen.

Outside of small games that nobody cares about and maybe sports games, what games were released on PS2 a couple of years ago?

Were the big games like Batman, Bioshock, TLOU, God of War etc being released on PS2?

We've started off this gen and the biggest titles are still launching on last gen. I understand it, early on, but it's held back this gen so far IMO.

Most recent one I can think of was Silent Hill. It released on PS2 well after 360 and ps4 were out.

Didn't god of war release on PS2 after the Ps3 was released?

There was also games like 007 quantum of solace. Guitar hero, ghostbusters. Call of duty.

All released on ps2 well into the next gen

This has always been the case. As I pointed out above. There is a bit more of it this gen due to game development being a longer and more expensive process, but its nothing we have not seen before.

You are reaching my friend. Bioshock came out 2 years after the 360, Batman 4 years, God of War 5 years, TLOU 7-8 years. I'd say the remasters of PS3/360 games are a much bigger worry. What big games will come out for the PS3/360 besides MGS:V?

How am I reaching? People are bringing up the fact that irrelevant PS2 games were still being made 2 years ago. I'm simply saying, ok we know that, but the games releasing weren't AAA titles
