There isn't a big market for fighting games. If you're 30 or above, it's definitely not the 90s when there were dozens of fighting games each year.

Fighting games suck online because of lag, and arcades are dead. Additionally, people don't seem to play games with their friends in the living room anymore.

Further, Newcomers get absolutely destroyed in fighting games because the online community is very dedicated. It's not like the old arcades where people of all different skill levels played, and there was only 1-2 beasts that were in arcade daily. the online community is nearly all beasts, and it's hard to have fun as a newcomer. Most just give up because the time investment to play competitively online is too great.

Yeah this is true. There are some games with good online, but everything else yeah. Been playing Guilty Gear regularly on PC and the playerbase is either players i beat 10 times outta 10 (who probably will uninstall the game later), or tournament level players. Barely any mid level players. Takes too much effort to be good.

I think Tekken 7 though may bring in more casual players just due to the nature of the game design. Tekken is hard but at a low level you can still get decent satisfaction out of getting random juggles from mashing. You dont really get that from other fighters. Im looking forward to playing it with friends offline. Plus I have a feeling that the Tekken brand will sell off its name, and like I said before, seems to be the most casual friendly when it comes to pick up and play with friends who also dont really play.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven

so much truth.... i'm no rookie to fighting games.. amongst friends i'm pretty good to the best out depending on the game

i can even step in an arcade like dave and busters and stay on the sticks for a minute

but the FIRST time i went online in street fighter, nikkas was hitting me with 54 hit combos and shyt off rip... and these dudes are in the same rank 1 level as me... i packed that shyt up and sent it back to gamefly in an instant

i don't have time to be practicing combos while reading websites and watching youtube vids for 5 hours to master 1 character.. i understand that people are going to do that.. that's fine.. but once again, the online match making system is completely dead.. ain't no way in hell i should have been playing those dudes
