The only dumbasses from my school that weren't considered lame were the athletes and that's cause nobody expected shyt from em.

I think it really boiled down with ones social skills.

Good looking, sociable kids who got better grades had it easy.

But if you were kinda frumpy, unkempt (godforbid musty) and kept to yourself, only focused on school work then I could see why you'd get the lame tag.

For the record a lot of kids at my high school got called lame for all kinds of shyt. It really just seems like a little jab kids give each other.

I went to a private school in the city. If your avg dropped below a 2.5 you couldn't play sports and if it dropped much more than that you got put on probation. nikkas bragged about making the honor roll .

Why is society approving ignorance so much?

Because pop culture right now dictates that being ignorant is cool, and being intelligent is lame. Nothing wrong with bugging out with your friends now and again, but there's a time and place for everything. Some people play too damn much and that's how they end up getting murked. Like those kids who do pranks in the hood. Keep in mind though, you have to consider what age group this is coming from. Most kids consider things cool and then look back on it with embarrassment. So society's definition of cool isn't always something you should involve yourself with, because many people do things BECAUSE it's cool and want to be cool.

Granted, you were only really called lame if you were socially inept though. If you're smart and socially intelligent, you're set. But if you're socially intelligent and stupid, people don't take you seriously. So I think that's something to consider.

I went to a middle school in West Philly that really looked down on smart kids. Then I went to the best public high school in Philly and dumbasses were kinda frowned upon.

They kicked you out if you failed more than three classes, or if your GPA dropped below 2.
I'm not sure how the brehs who went to the failing schools survived.
