No, they did have a "blow off" of some sort. Back in January 2006, right after Kurt won the WHC on Smackdown, Mr. McMahon booked a non-title match the following RAW between Michaels and Angle. HBK I think got the win after some shenanigans by Davari, who was the spurned heel manager that Kurt left since Kurt became babyface again after he won the belt.

May sound weird a hell but his peak as a wrestler was before his first retirement (pre-injury) even though he had better matches (due to much better talent) in his second run.

I always thought he came back a better wrestler because of his limitations.

Michaels is the WWE style at its best though so he was gonna be fine either way.

Good selection of matches, but I'm surprised that you have Shawn and Mankind's match in your top 5 instead of Shawn/Bret from WM XII. I also see on your list that Kurt has more "classic" matches than Shawn, but it's different strokes for different folks. If I had to pick one, HBGOAT would be the guy for me.
