Young has a careet filled with accolades, but rarely gets mentioned...he has two MVPs, a Super Bowl and MVP, arguably the best performance in the Supetbowl. He put up incredibly gaudy numbers and is the best dual threat QB ever. So why does he rarely get brought up? Playing with the GOAT? Being owned by the Cowboys and Packers? Thoughts??

I have him at 2 behind montana and yes im bias.

His career basically didnt start until 1992 fulltime and in that time.. He won..

2 mvps
1 sb mvp
Yearly leader in completion % and passer rating.
He lost to all time great qbs in the playoffs in favre and aikman. He lost to the falcons because hearst broke his ankle 2nd play from scrimmage.

The rules didnt protect him at all. He was basically the left handed aaron rodgers without rules tailoring to him and he still was beastly

Because he's overshadowed by Joe Montana.

Steve actually showed that you a running quarterback can become a pocket passer given enough development time (and with having a decent team around him - look at Young's Tampa Bay days).

Nobody wants to have new draft picks sit on the sidelines for a few seasons to learn anymore though. As much as Young wanted to start the first couple years, being Montana's backup helped him immensely in the long run.

Everyone who played after 1978 played under rules designed to favor the passing game

But even before 2004, you could still be physical with WRs beyond 5 yards and shid

Which makes the numbers Young put up in the 1990s mind boggling
