Where does Timbaland fit in with the Dr. Dre's, The RZA's, and Premier's?

The same names always get listed whenever there's talk of the greatest Hip Hop producers of all time but where does Timbaland fit in with these Hip Hop producers?

He's produced a lot of classic Hip Hop songs over the last two decades:

He has a bunch of hits with rap artists, but IMO, R&B and Pop are his strong suit.

So to answer the question, the guys OP mentioned rank ahead of him.

Oh I agree, I enjoy his R&B and Pop music more but I can't deny that his Hip Hop production. Timbaland is very talented.

He's right up there with them

but he has an asterisk beside his name cuz he's a pop sellout (see Shock Value 2 and other things)

he had a very solid run, most of his beats sound real outdated though

Timbo is definately a top 10 producer of all-time. No arguement there.

Personally, I think he's better than all three as he's my favorite producer. With that said, his catalog isn't strong enough to put him in the rankings of a Dre or RZA solely as a Hip Hop producer. Dre and RZA have like five albums that are iconic in Hip Hop. Tim doesn't. In regard to Premo, both of them pretty much have contributions to classic Hip Hop albums (Premo more so than Tim). Neither have produced entire albums that are as acclaimed as RZA or Dre's work though Premo gets the edge over Tim because of the Gangstarr albums.

That being said, it's Dre = or > than RZA > Premo > Timbaland solely as a Hip Hop producer.

I think Timbaland's a better overall producer than all three considering what he's done in R&B, Pop and Hip Hop.

He doesnt belong...

Where are his classic albums...? He is an excellent pop producer, but he doesnt belong in the same lane as the people mentioned in the original post...

But that's not to say that those people are better than him, it's just apples and oranges...

In my opinion...
