biden isn't in charge of anything, and he's obviously not out campaigning. where the fukk do you want him to be :dahell:

there's no play right now except sitting back and watching trump either fail or succeed :yeshrug:
A politician with a large and popular platform absolutely has the power to ensure that crisis doesn't reach its peak.

He could just as easily bully state and federal politicians into harm-reductive action.

He's trying to sit quietly through the crisis - out of sight and out of mind, he won't be negatively affected.

I am just saying.....Bernie is doing fireside chats and doing press conferences putting out specific policies on how he'd handle this crisis.

As a presumptive nominee I would at least expect him to be a little more visible.

Smart move imo. Let trump fuk up some more.

Its a gamble. Already people are being swayed by Trumps daily press briefings and support his handling on this. Biden at least needs to make himself visible. By visible, I don't mean directly going after Trump but reassuring the public and perhaps putting out specific policies he'd implement to stem the economic fallout from this.

I think Joe should be doing what Bernie did last week. Do a fireside chat in his Delaware house, take questions online, answer them for like a half hour.

this is the move - do it weekly, answer questions from white folks in swing states...offer critiques of the current administration’s response and how he’d do things differently. have high profile guests/experts in on video chats, etc. If he can’t be on the campaign trail it’s the next best thing

Why? He isn't a senator anymore he is closer to a civilian in terms of this crisis than anyone in congress.

the ether
Previous elections the presumption candidates were pretty vocal about major issues. I remember both Obama and McCain being all up in the financial meltdown to the point they were practically co-writing policy with Bush.

McCain, Obama headed to Washington for bailout talks - CNN.com

McCain and Obama accepted Bush's invitation to discuss the proposed $700 billion bailout with him and congressional leaders at the White House, the candidates' aides said Wednesday night.

Also Wednesday night, McCain and Obama said in a joint statement that the bailout plan was "flawed" but that "the effort to protect the American economy must not fail."

"Now is a time to come together -- Democrats and Republicans -- in a spirit of cooperation for the sake of the American people," read the statement, which was released about 15 minutes before Bush made a televised address on the economy.
