Never have I completely agreed with a rant that much as I have with this.

Goddamn. :wow:

Its all fun and games but at some point you gotta wonder how this is affecting those who can't separate the entertainment from the influence.
I have to assume it is destroying their potential in some way or another...

I love hip hop deeply, and part of the reason I am not as good as I should be in my professional career is because I still have to fantasy that I could be a famous rapper...

It's a distraction...

I am highly educated and a responsible person...I have been that way since a youngin...When I was 10 years old, my parents would take weekend vacations and leave me alone in the house by myself...That's how responsible I have naturally always been...

But sometimes I can feel the negative themes of hip hop music tug at my brain, and seduce me to be silly and ignorant...

I have a professional career and I am always in contact with people are just as smart or smarter than me, so I have something tugging me back into reality...

Because I know this about myself, I find it hard to believe that "hip hop is just music" and the negative themes are just "rappers reporting what's happening in the hood"...

Hip Hop promotes an extreme form of capitalism...And the people it is target at, are already in vulnerable social, psychological and physical environments, you have to be naive to believe that hip hop is not aggravating the situation on some level...

yeah...I struggle with it when I get older honestly...its cool on friday/saturday when you're partying...but when you sit and think about it there are people who literally soak these ideas up and embrace and define their identities in this shyt.

Its kinda sad. especially kids who pick up that attitude and behavior.

Look no further than how whites emulate that slang and dress and general expression.

LoL... I bet a few do the cats giving Chuck D props up in here are the same ones Chuck is talking about.

Chuck D is one of them old school folk that makes people do better. Problem is, in this society, people hate to improve themselves if there isn't a financial incentive upon it.
