Driving back home late from work, I signal to take my turn off. As I switch lanes, I notice a car in my rear view signaling to make the same turn off.
From the exit to my home, you drive straight for a few blocks before making a right, and then a left onto my hill.
The car continued behind me, but it wasn't at a suspicious speed nor was it particularly close. I don't remember the car tailgating me, even when we were at a stop light. So no signs of agitation or road rage.
I wrote off my suspicion as I pulled into my driveway. Normally, whenever I notice that a car has been 'following' me in the past, they just drive past and my paranoia is wholly unwarranted.
This time, the car hurriedly parked across the street next to a fire hydrant. I figured something was up.
So I grabbed my water bottle and camera bag, and hopped out my car, first looking at the car across the street, before noticing that this dude was bent over looking through my passenger side.
I didn't even see him hop out or walk across the street.
Shocked, I just said "what's going on?"
To which he stood straight up from the passenger side, and walked around my car and towards me. As he took two final steps towards me, I took one step back before we both stopped, and he just stared at me. Not a single emotion on his face. Not anger, or familiarity, just blank.
I had never seen this motherfukker in my life.
So I'm staring, basically ready to get robbed or something. Silence sits between the two of us, his stare inferring that he was contemplating just as fast as my mind was racing. This was a confrontation unfolding, simply at a bizarre standstill.
He never went through with whatever it was he planned. Every one of his actions screamed determination, until we were, at last, face to face.
He turned around, got in his car, and sped off.
I swear to God that shyt was so surreal, I still thought he was finna get something from his car and turn around, but he just got in his car and drove away.
In the moment, I ain't know what to think, my naive stupid azz didn't get the plates or nothing.
I don't know brehs, that shyt got me feeling like I narrowly avoided a robbery or death. I was completely caught off guard, and I can't say nothing but that my guardian angels were looking after me tonight bro.
