Illmatic but Nas always in my top 2 or 3 so there's a bias i suppose. OB4CL is more about the beats for me, i prefer some of the other Wu 1st round of solos

Illmatic

There's something about shorter albums that really make them great. Even though OB4CL doesn't have much filler, I think that there is something about shorter albums that just make them more special. This is why I enjoy albums like Doe or Die, Blackstar, Hell Hath no Fury, Be, Low End ect. There is something magical about those 10-12 track joints.

That's a big reason why Face's discography is so great as well, or maybe I'm tripping

I believe there's never been an album in hip hop as good as Cuban Linx. Illmatic is Top 3, no doubt, but to me Cuban Linx is hip hop at it's apex.

This is a tough choice.

I may give the ever so slight nod to Illmatic, but like I said I'm talking the length of an atom.

I just think for an album with only 10 tracks to be such a complete work from top to bottom edges out OB4CL that while I won't say has any filler, I do play some tracks more than others. But that being said neither choice is wrong and I think both albums are examples of hip-hop at it's highest artform.

I think Illmatic is better but I always enjoyed Linx more. I liked the variety of sounds on there, the fact that it was basically a duo album. The concept of the album. A lot of things about Linx just make it more enjoyable to listen to. Illmatic I'll throw on in certain moods. But yeah, I do think Illmatic is probably the best hip-hop album ever IMO. I just played Linx a little more over the years.
