they have 1.4 billion people and only 1 gold medal and a measly 7 medals total? logically, they should be right up there with USA and China

they were beaten by countries like Bahamas which doesn't even have a population of one million people

and honestly Brazil underachieves too. big population and tons of super athletic folks over there. no reason they should be losing to small Western countries like Canada, Australia, The Netherlands

It's starting to change but 90% of Indian parents don't give a shyt about sports, they don't see it as a valid career path. Poor parents want their kids to get a real job ASAP and rich parents want their kids to get into college so they can get a real job. There are very few parents who would allow their children to treat sports as anything more than a hobby. About the only exception "sometimes" is cricket.

On top of that all their government sporting agencies are corrupt and badly mismanaged.

I wouldn't say that's c00nery. you can't expect Africans who were born or raised in another country to represent a country they've spent little to no time in. African countries have to get their act together and build up their countries. even with all this exported talent there's still more than enough talent on the motherland, but the opportunities aren't equal to western countries.
