Rank them in order from most likely to least likely to win at least ONE RING at some point in their career.
A. Chris Paul
B. Kevin Durant
C. Carmelo Anthony
D. Dwight Howard
E. Derrick Rose
F. Stephen Curry
And before someone hits me with the
for including Stephen Curry, I went back and forth between including him or not and decided to do so at the last minute. I think his stock only goes up from here - as will his stats and reputation.
Factor in best current situation, best situation in the future, overall skill set, and how it meshes with a championship team's DNA.
I will go
1. Kevin Durant
2. Dwight Howard
3. Derrick Rose
4. Chris Paul
5. Stephen Curry
6. Carmelo Anthony
- As long as he's healthy Dwight Howard has the type of game that can compliment any strong wing presence or 3 point presence. I believe it's only a matter of time in Houston.
- Kevin Durant is the best player of the bunch and already got very close. Can they get that Alfred to go with him and Westbrook like Harden did? Martin wasn't the answer...maybe a more offensively deveoped Serge Ibaka is.
- Derrick Rose has the best coach and good pieces around him and Noah is a great Alfred. Not sure of how willing Chicago is to shell out the cash to get him a true Robin though.
- Chris Paul is a great point guard who I believe needs strong pieces around him to truly flourish - more so than a Derrick Rose and a Westbrook who might not be as dynamic of a passer, but have a more disruptive and impactful offensive skillset. I don't know if Blake Griffin is a strong enough piece, but the Clippers have certainly improved a lot in the off season.
- Stephen Curry has the shooting skill, passing ability and handles to be the best player on a championship winning team, but I don't know how good the Warriors will be in the future.
- Carmelo Anthony is a great offensive talent, but lacks the defensive fortitude and overall game to do it without lots of help. The Knicks aren't providing said help at the moment. Hope he does though.
