Harlem was hurting in the 90's compared to the other boroughs. Harlem was strong in the 80's and 2000's but in the 90's we hardly had any reps. The biggest representative was Teddy Riley and he was more on the R&B side.....McGruff never blew up.......Those American Cream team guys never went anywhere.........and Big L was stuck in the underground limbo.........Mase came in 97 and became the biggest thing to come from Harlem in the 90's.
Queens, Brooklyn is 2nd. I think the fact two of the biggest NYC rappers came from Brooklyn (Big and Jay) it makes it appear closer than it really is. Don't get me wrong, BK produced a lot of talent. But from the point Run DMC dropped to when the end of 50's run, Queens was like a fukking factory with all the talent that was produced.
