Cena

I’d love to see him play his same character but be a de facto heel because no one wants him. Win the RR, and then win at WM all with that ridiculous ridiculous hair :mjlol:

At least a few faces were solid on raw during the reign of terror and there was a clear plan to make 2 new stars during it. Every face who got over during LOLCENAWINS was turned and then fed to cena. The reign of terror sucked don’t get me wrong, but the worst thing to have in wrestling is a sustained failed top face push. It derails everything on a show, especially when you have a guy like Vince who then starts sabotaging every face who gets over to protect the top face. As bad as a heel being the top guy is, the silver lining is that we didn’t have any heels getting the biggest pops of the night and the faces all had the crowd behind them. At least the reign of terror had a few silver linings, as detailed below:

It gave us a great 3 stages of hell match, 2 great elimination chamber matches, arguably the best wrestlemania main event & fantastic rematch the next month at backlash, a couple underrated hell in a cell matches, an organic top face build for Batista that was properly executed, and one of the best hell in a cell matches they’ve ever booked that legit made a star.

Super Cena, he'd actually lose the damn title.
When was this happening pre 2009 :gucci:? He had it for 9 months his first reign while the crowd turned on him, then he won it back 3 weeks after losing it and held it for another 5 months. Then after 3 months of chasing, he had a 13 month run. He had a stretch of holding it for 26 out of 30 months where the only guy to get over on him was Kevin Federline and this only slowed down because he started getting hurt from the ridiculous workload they gave him and then started padding out some cheap one month runs by trading it back and forth with Orton for a few months at a time. Remember when he blackmailed his way into the world heavyweight title match at wrestlemania 25, then revealed the dirt he was holding over Vicky, and was still presented as the face in the match?

Hunter only got beat by his best friend for less than a month, GOLDBERG, Benoit so him and Eddie could have that feel good WM moment and then Batista cause Vince wanted to make new stars. In the 31 months of his reign of terror he spent less than a year not being champ even counting the month it was held by vacant. And all because he wanted it that way, at least with Cena early on he had no say in whether or not he would win or lose. Blame Vince for that shyt, the real Super Cena years was stat padding like Charlotte.

Benoit got a solid 5 month run on and never lost to him at all as much as I can remember. He still spent less time as champ from September 2002 through wrestlemania 21 than cena did from WM21 through no mercy 2007 (again 26 out of 30 months is more than 19 out of 30). Why someone spent that long as champ doesn’t really matter when the crowd isn’t happy with either. Neither was good, but at least a few good matches and moments came from Shawn coming back and winning, Benoit winning, Goldberg splattering all of evolution as the survivor series, and ultimately Batista becoming a star. In the 12 years cena spent as a top guy for them, edge is the only guy who ever came out of a program with him not looking drastically worse after. It cannot be overstated, the worst thing a promotion can do creatively is keep pushing a failed babyface as the top face. It derails everything on a show when the top face is someone the crowd doesn’t want because then your heels can’t get heat either since the crowd just ends up cheering them no matter what they do. Always overcoming the odds cleanly while still being billed as the underdog makes a guy impossible to relate to or sympathize with.
