Never got a job through indeed but have tried Linkedin just have applied through it to see that hundreds of others have applied for the same position but never heard back. Online applying for a job in general is just not a good strategy by itself because it is the easiest thing to do which means a lot of people are doing it which means increased competition and reduces your chances of even getting a call back.

Linkedin is good. From my experience, I usual track down the HR person of the position/company I was applying at through Linkedin and just let that person know that you applied for a position and come with some BS question that you want to answer so it's not like you are just looking at his/her profile. At least you distinguish yourself from the pack that way. Otherwise do other things other than online application.

I have used that tactic as well on LinkedIn with varying levels of success.

Can someone school me on recruiters. I know what they kinda do but what are the cons of going to one of these places.
Sure! You must build great relationships with them. You must build a network and those you trust and those who have great opportunities. It's a web, you will always be helping each other in the field.

You work tirelessly to build a great profiolio and they need to as well. The biggest is always ask what are companies looking for in terms of skill set and try to get in and get those skills for your own personal development.

You must have a lot of work ethic to become great!
