Three young men have been sentenced to time behind bars for throwing a rock off a highway overpass in central Pennsylvania, causing severe brain trauma to an Ohio teacher.
A judge on Thursday ordered the defendants to serve minimum sentences of 4½ years, 22 months and 11½ months for the July 2014 attack from an overpass on Interstate 80.
Tyler Porter, Dylan Lahr and Keefer McGee all expressed their sorrow and regret to the victim, middle school language arts teacher Sharon Budd of Uniontown, Ohio. She was in the courtroom for the proceedings.
A fourth man, Brett Lahr, previously began serving 18 months to 20 years after pleading no contest to a conspiracy count.
Budd has had seven surgeries since the rock crashed through the front windshield of her car.
